Calculating Holiday Pay for Short-Notice Teachers

The STRB 17th report (part 2), published in April, made recommendations for introducing changes to the arrangements for calculating and paying the holiday element of short-notice teachers’ pay from 1st September 2008.

Due to the number and complexity of the changes being introduced into the 2008 STPCD we will now bring in the recommended changes in a separate pay order later this year.

It is important to stress that these changes will not change the amounts of pay short-notice teachers are entitled to receive under the provisions of the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.

What are the changes?

The main change will be the requirement for short-notice teachers to have their pay calculated to show the working element and the holiday element separately.
