The agreement and issuing of the annual NJC salary scales is a constant source of frustration in schools as they are normally not agreed until well after the start of the year. However, the figures are backdated to 6 April each year resulting in backpay and issues surrounding leavers. In 2008/09 they were finally agreed in February 2009.

The 2009/10 figures have just been agreed and can be found in our Resources section. In brief there is a 1% increase for all scales apart from 4 to 10 inclusive where there is an increase of 1.25%.
