It continues to amaze but it seems that a number of LEA payroll departments continue to charge premium rates for their services but fail to deliver on such a regular basis.

We have attended three meetings with potential customers in the last few weeks, across three separate authorities. In each case we were told that the schools in question did not receive payroll reports and payslips to review prior to pay date.

We have attended three meetings with potential customers in the last few weeks, across three separate authorities. In each case we were told that the schools in question did not receive payroll reports and payslips to review prior to pay date.

How then can the school be certain that the payrol lis correct? It obviously can’t and this is increasingly unacceptable. In the era of FMSiS and the controls and processes it instills I am still amazed that this situation persists.

Of course this also leads to many other issues as there is no effective way to review the payroll prior to payment. Often there are issues such as amendments not processed, leavers not processed and in extreme cases new starters not processed.

If this were the corporate world this situation woul not be allowed to arise. In fact, if a payroll outsource provider is making payment by BACS it is essential as your explicit approval is required to support payment.

The trend for schools to oursource their payroll away from LEA and being able to select a solution that delivers the high satisfaction levels that you deserve continues.
